" A correspondent of the Farm and Fireside says he gets tomatoes and cu cumbers two or three weeks earlier than they are usually found in North ern markets, by adopting the follow ingplun: Our tomato practice is to scrape out two dozen fair-oieed tur nips to thin shells, fill thorn with rich garden mould, plant a tew seeds in .sh nln thorn in a box of earth, covoiing quite up to the top, place the I box in a warm room. After the plants are up, water when required, give light and out door air on all pleasant warm days. Select the strbngost plant in each shell to grow, pulling ou the others. Pinch back two vigorous shoots, urge Btout, stocky growth by frequent slight feedings of tepid sour tnild somotimes woak soap-suds, and when the frost season is fairly past, set turnip shells, to-inato plants and all in the out-door soil where they aro to grow, and they will go right on growing, without any hesitation or, standing still, as they do coming from a hot...
