Tribune hare cipressed a desire to know how the account of Mr. Doug las renunciation of Protestantism, while at Koine, during the summer Of 1853 reached this country. We an swer! that it was first made public through the columns of the Freeman's Journal, of New York city, the lead ing organ - of the Roman -Catholic Church, in this country. The an nouncement was made upon the author ity of letters received - directly from Rome, doubtless written by some of the high dignitaries of tho Church to Arch bishop Hughes, and by the latter com municated to the Freeman's Journal.
