Considered by some to be the preseason favorite In the district Hutto has had problems with injuries and has one win and two losses in district play. Last week Hutto fell to Thrall 14-7 while Holland lost toSnlndo21-0. OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE EFFORT Gary Doskocll was named outstanding defensive player of the week by Holland Gary Tyson for his effort in the game with Salado. Tribune-Progress Thursday November 1 1979 Page7 Holland JH Battles Salado To 6 Holland Junior High and Salado Junior High ended in n 6-6 tic after a tough defensive battle on Hornet Field last Thursday October 25. The Hornets were actually t In control of the contest for most of the ballgame but a tricky pass play in the first quarter of play netted Salado 67 yards and their only score of the night. It was the only serious letdown of the Holland defense but it was enough to prevent a Hornet win. Despite being keyed by the opposition defense tailback Andrew Bailey racked up 84 yards and Holland's only score to lead the Hornet offense. The shut out win over Academy upped the Bullpups season record to 6 wins and 0 losses and District 28-A Junior High record to 5-0. The Bullpups first touchdown of the game came in the second quarter when Andrew Cortez took a handoff from QB Sam Pierce and raced 53 yards to paydirl.
