I.PAGE 1 Bandit Strikes Shamrock Station SMITHVILLE — As of Tuesday local law authorities had no defin- ite leads in the armed robbery of the Sigmor Shamrock Service Sta- tion on Highway 71 which occurred around 9:30 Wednesday night, April 26. According to Deputy Sheriff Frank Calabrese, it is possible that the holdup may have been connect- ed with a simiiar robbery in Austin earlier in the evening, but there w as no proof of this. According to Dora Salas, attend- ant at the station, a white man, approximately 5'7" and weighing 150 lbs. came in the station, pointed a gun at her and demanded the money, approximately S240, from her cash register. He then ripped out the telephone and disappeared. His getaway car was never seen. The attendant went to the Smith- ville police station and reported the incident and a search was start- ed by the police and the Bastrop County Sheriff's Dept., but no trace of the r...
