In Chambers last "Wednesday an application, on behalf of the Closer Settlement Board, was made to the Chief .Tnstice. under a writ of capias, for final judgment in an action against Franklin Burchett, of Cole raine, farmer, formerly one of the settlors 011 the Mooralla Estate, to recover £510, rent and interest due on the lease obtained by -him under the Closer Settlement Acts. Mr.Manu (instructed by the Crown solicitor) appeared for the Closer Settlement Board ; and Mr. Ian Mac farlau (instructed by Mr. IX II. Herald, as agent for Messrs. A. G. Palmer and Son, Hamilton) for the defeudant.
