THURSDAY, MARCH 15.   (Before Mr. J. Green and Dr. Kil- patrick, J's.P.) John Ellis was charged: on remarid with uhlawful assault. 'A, Hart, hairdresser anfd tobaceonist of :Healesville, deposed that about. 9: o'clock,on Saturday evening last pri soner came to his shop, and made use of veryvulgar language. He asked' prisoner to desist org¬o out- of the shop. This the latter refused to do, becoming abusive, and stating that he would a' smash him as he would that door," at the .9itmitidiie hitting" the door and breaking-one of the panels. "THE VAGABOND'' AND HIS TRIP TO HEALESVILLE AND DISTRICT.     [BY DOMUS.] ,   As as literary production the article of "The Vagabond in, the Leader is neither more nor less than a jumble of incidents, having no bearing whatever on the subject, and teeming with all the weaknesses of journalism, and, being neither instructive or reliable. How- ever, leaving these at present, the part to which objection is here made, and which certainly requires contradiction and correction is the closing part re- garding "the Colston murders." He says the only souvenir that remains of these is the Watts Bridge at Fern- shaw. That bridge was not built by Colston, but by a Mr. Cox, who was the contractor for its erection and he, Colston, was simply employed by him for a part of the carpenter work, and during that period, he, with another man, resided in a detached ,dttage at the Watts Bridge Hotel, which was situated in the centre of the now de- molished and desert...
