Tilba Tilba (FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT The Tilba Tilba Progress Committee have the honor of submitting there report for the past year, and in doing so take this oppor- tunity of congratulating the residents upon the amount of improvements that have been effected during their term of office, notably, that telegraph communication is now an es tablished fact. This matter engaged the attention of your committee from the first week of their taking office, and in spite of several unfavourable replies from the Postal Department, and the apathy shown by the residents generally, they have at last suc ceeded in obtaining what must prove an un estimable boon to the district. Amongst other matters that have engaged the atten tion of the committee have been : - 1. Metalling the remaining portion of the road, Model Farm to Pitman's Bridge Hill, and blinding the newly-metalled portions. 2. Erection of a store at the Bermagui jetty. 3. Passing Thoughts. [Newspaper Article] — The Moruya Times and South Coast Journal — 30 January 1889

Passing Thoughts. We live in an era of advanced thought when knowing ken is not confined to clerics, for the laity are deemed capable of the act of critical acumon, and fit to catechise those who deem the pulpit theirs by sole right. Wagonga and Corunna. (FfiOM ODB OWS OoBBBSfOUDltST.) A public meeting was held on last Tuesday week to elect a Progress committee to carry on work of the ensuing year. The Secretary read his report cf which the following are the chief points. Your committee regret that the list of useful work actually accomplished is not so great ns they could wish. The meetings all through the year have been characterised by the utmost good feeling and earnestness of purpose, each and every metn (-er trying to advance the best interests of the district Repeated applications have been made to the ' Works Department,' for the construc tion of a road from the Episcopalian Church at Wagonga to Puakalla Bridge, but owing to there being no funds for such work dur ing the past year, your committee have had to rest content with the promise that provision should be made for the road in question, when the estimates for the present year should be passed.
