Yesterday, Michael Hunt aud Michael Ryan :or drunkeiuiess were fined os, in default 24 hours, whilst for obscene language the last named was also sentenced to pay 20s or go to gaol for a week. INSULTING LANGUAGE. Thos. Duun v. Alfred Prentice. No appearance* Case struck out. WAGES CASE. diaries Williamson v. J. H. Bowen, licensed hawker. Tliis was a claim for £9 11s for wages alleged to be due. Verdict for £8 6s 9d, with; £2 16s lOd for professional and court costs and one witness.

NO VISIBLE MEA.KS OF SUPPORT. Mary Monico, on remand, was agaiu brought utj charged aealwve ; aud after evidence was given by Sergeant Webb, was sentenced to one mouths imprisonment.

PECULIAR DEATH. Cobar, Feb. 13. A man named Samuels, who was arrested on Friday night for drunkenness, was found dead in the cell next morning. The doctors post mortem examination proved that death resulted from fracture of the skull. An in- quiry was commenced and will be con- tinued on Wednesday, No one appears able to throw any light as to how the injury was inflicted.   INTERNATIONAL CRICKET. Sydney, Feb. 14. LOUTH NOTES. (BY BEE.) Mr. Pugh the officer in charge of the Post and   Telegraph office here, left this morning for Bourke en route for Mogil Mogil where Mrs. Pugh is lying dangerously ill. - Three weeks ago last Monday Mr. Pugh received a telegram notifying him of his wifes illness. He immediately wired to the powers that be applying for leave of absence. His application was   however not deemed to be of sufficient importance to merit an answer. Later on he sent another wire   of the same purport, to which a reply came, but re- fusing the leave. Since then however it has been   granted and Mr. R. K. Campbell from Cobar ar- lived this morning to take temporary charge. Mr.   Pugh has been stationed here only three months but during that time he has gained the goodwill of all here not only by his courteous civility, but also by his being always ready to identify himself with any sports or anything for the welfare of the...
