Agricultural. To Prevent Smut in Wheat. Wash the wheat thoroughly till the water becomes clear or in other words, till it will no longer dirty the water; then take blue vitriol, on ounce for every bushel of wheat you Lave washed, and dissolve- it in hot water and pour it iuto tho tub, cask, or whatever your wheat is in, as the wheat must bo covered with clear wa ter at the time, and let it soak in this vitriol water for not less than six or more than twelve hours. This pro cess should bo carried through in the mornins. and at nicht drain ofl'tho water, and the wheat will bo fit to bow the uext morning. It will be ne cessary to stir tho wheat occasionally with a shovel whilo it is soaking in the vitriol water, as it tends to scour it and make it look bright. If this is done thoroughly, it will bo a perma nent onro for emut, cither in spring or fall wheat. How to Preserve Strawberries.
