FAUST AT OPERA HOUSE MONDAY NIGHT. Mr. Griffith is a young man, gifted with strong, clear-cut features, a wiry, well-developed figure, and a voice of uncomnion power and reso nance. Evidently he has the true histronic temperament, which, coupl ed with youth and enthusiasm, right ly have encouraged him to invade the sparsely populated region of the legitimate drama. His interpreta tion of the supernatural character in "Faust" has much to recommend it. He avoids the common error of de veloping the comic, at the expense of the deeper motives ol the char acter, and there is something in tensely repulsive and weird about his Mephisto, even when he is crack ing jokes.
