INDIAN GIRLS IN WASINGTON SOCIETY .r. When Gabe E. Parker went to WVashington a few months ago to enter upon his new duties as one of the "wampum chiefs" of the government and as register of the treasury he took with him not only his wife and family, but two very attractive sisters as well. These young ladies, whose pictures ap pear above, are part ('hoctaw Indians and trace their ancestry with a great deal of pride back to the leaders of the tribe when it was sovereign in that part of the United States which is now Georgia. Alabama and Mississippi. The girls are both pretty and are fast becoming popular members of official society at the capital. The one at the left is Iucille and the other Georgia. At the Gate of Nain By REV. GEORGE E. CUILLE Bibl. Techer. Mo.dI hae., Oicca e TEXT lIe went into a city called NalS Luke 7:1L The words. looked at closely. v ill be found to epitomize all the work of Christ as Savior. . For what is the J city of Nain? We find the answer In the meaning of its name: "fair, pleat ant," probably so called because of its striking situa tion. And is not ': this a hat the world was as (God made it, so that his Otl, jl:t S could pronounce 1" Oll the labor of lis hands, "very good?" Is not this what It still is to the unregener ate heart, that refuses to recognize the ruin wrought by sin? Yes, the heart that has no ties elsewhere; that has not "tasted the powers of the world to come;" nor seen the glorious realities of things eternal, finds it fair and pleasant still. A Visit to the largest stores, and to the Jewelers. discloses beads from all quarters of the globe, and from crude barbarous looking strands to finely cat gems and matched pearls. Every one is wearing beads, or wants to wear them. They are shown in endless va riety and are a big feature in the new season's fashions. Since they may be had in all colors It is quite the smartest thing to do to have them match the color of the cos tame or else to provide a very strik lag contrast to it. And as all the shades of yellow are given greater prominence than other colors, it fol lows that amber beads lead the gay procession of bead trappings. After amber, either clear or cloudy. Jet is probably more worn than any other single kind of bead. Short strands of fine and beautifully...
