We have had 110 revlsal of the 1 statute law of Virginia since 1849. The Codes of 1800 and 1873 never have received the sanction of the Legislature as accurate texts of the statue law of the State. They are works of Mr. Munford, for which the State paid, and publishes as a matter of convenience to its judicial, executive and legislative officers and to the people at large, but neither of them has ever been adopted by the Legislature as containing a correct text of our statute law. They are mere compilations, and being the unrevised work of one man, are necessarily imperfect. Consequences ot False Attitudes. Messrs. .Edilorx American Farmer: There is an excellant article on "False Attitudes" given in the second volume of the Journal of Health for 1883, which applies to various oc. cupations, and especially to ladies and students. The writer's remarks, we believe, were suggested and perhaps quoted from the writings of Surgeon Duffln. The false postures and attitudes taken by young persons at school, or when engaged in any particular trade or labor, often become a cause of distorted spine and other deformities —a state to be deplored in all, but more especially pitiable in the female sex. Wo think it incumbent on parents, guardians and instructors to 1 pay special attention to the habits in this respect of those under their charge. We cannot here quote nor will it be expect...

The present season has been the most disagreeable of any for many •years past. A large quantity of snow or rain has fallen, and fogs and icostorms have been quite frequent. The rain-fall has been unusual, not only in this country and all over it, but in Europe and other parts of the world. Perhaps this, may bo connected with the unusual red sunsets which have been seen for months past. The diffusion "of moisture in the atmosphere refracts the sun's rays and produces a red sky both in the morning and the evening, as is well known, and if it does it sometimes, why not always. Hut 1 am not a weather prophet. TIM! XV PRECAUTIONS. The greatest difficulty in the way of success with poultry lies in the absence of proper sanitary precautions. Abundant pure air, perfect cleanliness, pure water, and moderate and wholesome feeding are indispensable, and with |these poultry can be kept as healthfully as any other animal. But it is only the experienced poultry-keepers, who have learned by many failures liow to avoid failures, that can keep fowls profitably. Bad advice and ignorant suggestions, however, lead the inexperienced into loss and trouble. For instance, among the numerous circulars and pamphlets, which are just now coming down like snowflakes from every quarter, I get one from dealers in poultry-fixings of all kinds. Among others there is. a nice little poultry-house, a pocket edition, as it w...
