Halt freeway work, urge supervisors California Highway Commission Tuesday was urged by County Supervisor Warren M. Dorn to temporarily abandon plans for a Foothill Freeway “which would affect six communities and result in removal of 2,069 homes. “One proposed Foothill route would mean the' displacement or destruction of more than four times as many homes as were lost in the 1961 Bell Air fire (484) and four times as many as were destroyed in the recent Alaska disaster ' (473)," said Dom. OK COLORADO FREEWAY The Board of Supervisors, on recommendation, of Dom, urged the commission to postpone decisions on the freeway and designate the approved Colorado Freeway a part of the Interstate System. “Under federal law," Dom added, “the Interstate System must be completed by 1972, and the Foothill Fteeway is now part of this system. “If the commisson approves the board’s recommendation, the Colorado Freeway already through route procedure —would repace the northerly route, allowing for addit...
Contractor's license law changes hit [Newspaper Article] — El Sereno Star — 30 April 1964
Contractor's license law changes hit SACRAMENTO (CNS) Attorney General Stanley Mosk has ruled that changes in the contractors’ license law, adopted in 1963, which require an owner of property to have a contractor’s license in order to build on his own property are unconstitutional. "The contractors* license] board determines that a person has the necessary skill, training and ability to be issued a contractor’* license," the opinion said. “An owner is then told that ha cannot engage the licensed contractor to perform tha very task the contractors’ license board has determined the contractor qualified to perform unless he, the owner, also obtains a contractor's license.
