CORRESPONDENCE. Country Roads Board, informing the council that Mr. R. Wheller would call at 10 a.m. on 9th inst. in refer ence to stock on roads.-Mr. Wheller attended the meeting and was receiv ed by the Shire President. Mr. Whel ler explained the policy of the Board regarding wandering stock on roads. (Mr. Wholler is an officer of the Board to deal with stock on high ways.) Thp attendance of Mr. Whel ler was brought about by a question asked at the October meeting of the council, regarding stock on roads. The Shire President said it was hoped that some uniformity might be reach ed by information imparted by the 1 Board's officer. WEDDING.. WOODS-McMANUS. St. Christopher's Church, Marnuka, was very tastefully decorated for the marriage of Miss Valerie McManus, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. McManus, of Canberra and formerly of Alexandra, to Mr. T. F. Woods, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woods, of Syd ney. The bride, who was escorted by her   father wore a trained frock of white lace, with tight fitting bodice, and a four-tiered tulle veil held in place with orange blossom. She carried a bou quet of lily of the valley and stocks. Mrs. W. Bennett was matron of honor, and Miss Dorothy Clark brides maid. They wore lace frocks, with hats to match. Little Joy McManus (sister of the bride) was flower girl, and wore a frock of mauve net, with hat to tone. Mr. J. Woods (brother of the bride groom) was best man, and Mr. K. Damage by iewvy Rain, . Heavy rain on Monday last damaged culverts 'and roads in various parts of the shire. Mr. Les Norbury, of Alexandra, had his garden badly damaged. The. intersection of Nihil and Bayley Streets was covered with water. The front verandah at Mrs. McLachlan's residence was a buttress for the flood water. A tree was struck by lightning on Weeks' property at Riversdale. Grass (shortly to be cut for hay) was ruined, and in some cases sheep were drowned. The rainfall from 9 a.m. on Monday last to 9 a.m. Tuesday last was 242 points.

WEDDING BELLS The Holy Trinity Church Balaclava, provided the setting for the marriage of Miss Valma Splatt, of Melbourne, and former ly f Alexandra, to Mr. Albert Clack, of London. The bride, who was given away by her brother Robert, looked charming in a frock of white lace, and her tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of lily of the valley. Her bouquet was of lily of the valley and gardenias. The bride was attended by Mrs J. Byrne, as matron of honor, who wore blue marquisette, with a blue finger tip veil, held in place with red roses. Her bouquet was of matching flowers. The bridegroom had Mr. Nor man Newman, of London, as best man. TIe reception was held at the home of the bride's mother, where fifty guests were enter tained. Bowling Notes The green was in perfect order for the first Pennant Match of the season played at Alexandra on Saturday last, between Alex andra and Yea.
