AGRICULTURE IN CANADA. A FEW FACTS ABOUT WHEAT CROWING AND THE ELEVATOR. The following extracts from Canadian papers will shew the progress of agricul ture in that country : — In 1SS3 there were only 260,842 acres under cultivation for wheat in Manitoba, and not more than 5,000 acres in tie Territories. By 1SS7 Manitoba's wheat acreage had risen to 432,124, from which was raised the total of 12,351,724 bushels, or an average of 25.7 bushels per acre. In the next ten years Manitoba's wheat acreage grew from 432,124 to 1,488,232 and the Territories, in 1S9S, when the offi cial records begin, had an acreage in wheat of 307,580 acres. THE POULTRY FARMERS' COOP ERATIVE SOCIETY, LTD. The Poultry Farmers' Co-operative So ciety, Ltd., held their fiftieth sale on Fri day. Buyers were fully represented, and prices for all lines were satisfactory. The egg market opened firm, and be came excited. One hundred and forty boxes were sold at from 1/3 to 1/4*. Pul lets' eggs to 1/2. Suburban duck eggs were scarce, at 1/4*. Prime cockerels had brisk sale at from 5 - to 57. Prices for inferior sorts — still plentiful — improved, but irregular. Old hens, heavy, in good demand, at from 3- to 36. Ducks. — Muscovy ducks 3/1, drakes 5 (j. English. — To 3,-; a specially fine lot from winner of champion prize at table poultry competition, realised 3/9 per pair.
