STANLEY JOTTINGS (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDANT) The Bishop of Tasmania visited Stanley on Tuesday night, and held a confirmation service when about 16 were confirmed. A social gathering and coffee supper was arranged to be held in the Sunday school room on Wednesday night, but La Grippe, who appears to have half the community in charge, considered a bishop fair game, and as his lordship was not able to attend it had to be postponed. He was better, however, by Thursday night, a very pleasant evening   was spent, enlivened by songs, music, recita- tions, and speeches. The Rev. J. Clamoitt occupied the chair. During his remarks the Bishop explained that he had caught a cold while penguin hunting, and regarded it as a just retribution for having robbed a penguin's nest. It is a ticklish thing to interfere with these birds of the tempest. We all know what the "ancient mariner" had to endure 'of shooting the albatross. Skim and strain the broth, boil it up, and for each pint of broth allow a quarter of a pint of rioo, boil twenty minutes, and finish with two liand fuls of grated parnicsan and a lump of buttor.
