CI-IURCH OF ENGLAND TEMPE RANCE ASSOCIATION. The regular monthly meeting of the Grenfell Branch of this society was held in Holy Trinity Church, on Monday evening last. The President (Rev. F. S. Wilson) occupied the chair. In accordance with usual custom, the proceedings were opened with praise and prayer, followed by reading a portion of Scripture, Matt, xxvi chap. 26 verso. In his comments thereon, the President, laid parti cular stress on tho words ' watch and pray.' This, ho stated, was one of the numerous passages that did not specially apply to intem perance ; nevertheless it was one of the side lights of Scripture that bore diiectly on being tempted to commit sin in any form. ' Watch and pray lest wo enter into temptation.' We were not to entirely trust to prayer without watching, and vice versa, but wo were to do both. A man might say ' there is no occasion for my watching and praying against murder, there is no danger of my being tempted into the commission of such a crime ...
