CRICKET. SATURDAY'S MATCHES. MOE v. WESTBURY. (BY SPECTATOR). [Newspaper Article] — Narracan Shire Advocate — 8 April 1914

CRICKET. SATURDAY'S MATCHES. MOE v. WESTBURY. (By Spectator). The above clubs met on the Westbury ground on Saturday last; The visitors had first use of the wicket, Halden and Lush opening to the bowling of Childs and McPonough. Lush was bowled by M cDonough's first ball. Halden, as usual, played sound cricket, and had made 13 when he was bowled off his pads. P. Varcoe (31) also plaj'ed good cricket, and should prove a valuable addition to the Moe ranks. None of. the others reached double figures, except the evergreen "sundries"—the means of ad ding 16 to the score, and which made it 98. Hasthorpe (3 for 14) secured the best bowl ing average. McDonough and Childs bowled really well, five of the 'first six overs sent down by them being maidens. The home team made a poor show with the bat, D. Sheppard' (19) being the only batsman to reach double figures, and the innings closed, for 53. The Moe bowling was better than usual, Coombs (with 5 for 6, including the "hat trick") being almost...
