THE RENMARK WHARF. Pursuant to notice oi motion, Cr Tdylor moved at the Town Council meet ing lost week, that the need for improv ing the approach.to the wharf be brought' before the Irrigation Trust. The Trust was receiving a considerable revenue from the wharf, and doing very little, in return tor it. The gradient of the ap proach ought,to have been .reduced long ago, and he could not understand why settlers had not moved-in the matter. The motion was seconded by Cr Wood:" man,. and strongly supported by Cr Hilton, who stated that in its present state, and in wet weat&er particularly, the elope was positively dangerous. The motion was carried.

LUCERNE FOR ENSILIGE. A good deal of tronble is experienced at times in turning lucerne into hay in the late autumn or in rainy weather. Lucerne hay is said to be a better ieed than silage, bnt good ensilage is a great deal better than spoilt hay, and when weather conditions are nst favourable to hay-making, it wonld often pay to pat the lucerne,down lor ensilage. As wit ness the following extract from the re port of the principal of a New Zealand experimental iarm (quoted by the " Cul tivator''):— "-lathe month of December, 1911, a stack of ensilage was made from lucerne at the Moumabafci experimental farm, New Zealand,^nothing being mixed with the lucerne for the. purpose, though at j the time there was a good proportion of j sow thistle growing ^the crop. It was' impossible at the time to make hay, ow ing to the unfavorable weather; the en-1 silage having bsen made in-practically continuous rain.
