Ol'F-XIXO OF THE lWWit.U CLUB, On Monday evening Inst the above club was opened by amdicrcho dinner gratuitously provided by a number of ladies, and served out on two long tables in the club loon). Between seventy anil eighty members sat down to the repast, it ml the greatest enthusiasm prevailed, The ljowral Brass Band kindly played se\eval choice selections before tlie din ner wns served up. Everything passed oil' most pleasantly, the occasion being one of unusual inter est to those who had interested thoniselvos in the movement. Testimonial to Mr. J. Knopp. On Friday afternoon, 30th ultimo, Mr. Jacob Knopp, late teacher at the Mittagong public school, was pre sented by tbo scholars attending the suhool with a puree of 20 sovereigns accompanied by an address; The address was read by Master Thomas Dunn, and the presentation was made by Master Arthur Comer. Mr. Kuopp made'a suitable reply to the handsome manner in which his pupils has treated him on the eve of his .departure. The children seemed deeply affected at loBing their much-esteemed master. The presentation took place in the school-room.

MOSS YALE POLICE. COURT, j WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4. Before'Messrs. F. R. Wilshire,-P.M.',' -and. A. D..Badgery, J.P. J. Roberts, for drunkenness and disorderly couduct in'Moss Vale, was fined 20s. and Gs. Cd. costs of court. James Coar v. A. Schleicher. Plaintiff claimed £3 15s. for work and. labour done for defendant at Burrawang. Mr. Nichols appeared for plaintiff. Defendant had paid 25s. into court which plaintiff refused to accept as settlement of the claim. Evidence was then talcein Plaintiff deposed that he had worked for defendant as axeman, at the rate of 25s. per week; he had beon paid up to fclie 30th 'of April, and was discharged on the 14th May without a week's notice; he now claimed three weeks'wages.
