LOCAL NEWS* The undersigned begs to tender his best thanks to his numerous custo mers and the public in general for the liberal support accorded him since his opening seven years ago. Many will remember the little box of a shop 16ft. by 13ft., to which space had to be added from time to time as the stock increased, until it has reached its pre sent dimensions, and full at that. He has managed to pay his way and forge ahead. A new element has recently appeared in the township, the Cash Business, to enable buyers to obtain goods at tl vj lowest price. The under signed agrees that goods can be sold with as much ultimate profit at con siderably less price and with no risk for cash. From to-day he intends to annex the cash business, and on these terms will sell as cheaply as possible. If, however, customers prefer the old style, accounts will lie continued as usual at very moderate charges, and the reputation cf the Hal lial Store, for supplying only the best goods, will be maintained. The Pioneer. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBEE 28, 1895.OVER-PRODUCTION NOT IMMINENT. [Newspaper Article] — Renmark Pioneer — 28 September 1895

Cbe Jjicrnm*. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBEE 28, 1895. Pessimists are over-production constantly raising not a bogie of some imminent. sort or other to scare the hopeful and industrious. That of over-pro duction is no new one. It has been thrashed out and dealt with exhaus tively by the friends of fruitgrowers until nothing more seemed necessary to say to refute it. Whenever fruit does not fetch as high a price as was anticipated, or sales of stocks on hand are not affected with the desired ra pidity, the question takes the oppor tunity to come to the fore again, and as it does only come forward at oppor tune times, there might seem some thing in it. As far as local markets are concerned—South Australian and Victorian markets—there is no doubt that in the case of the latter the pro duction of raisins at Mildura has overtaken the local demand. It is not the case yet with Remnark, but the coming season's crop is estimated to supply the needs of all consumers in onr own colony. This being so we m...

FUMIGATE FRUIT TREES FOR PRACTICAL RESULTS. HYDROCYANIC ACID GAS REMEDY. HOW PREPARED AND APPLIED. sFtom I'fic 3?u*af Gafif outlaw ((.'ontimud from last ueek) THE SHEET TENT. The following description of the construction of the sheet tent is kindly furnished us by Mr. Scott, and first appeared in the report of the Board of Horticulture for 1893-4 without due credit to the Los Angeles commis sioner : The two poles, or uprights, are of dressed oregon pine, 2x4 inches and 24 feet high. Across the bottom of the poles arc 'bolted—one on each side—two pieces 1x3 and 6 feet long. From each end of the cross pieces a brace, 2x4 inches and four feet long, is fastened to the up right pole. The1 cross-bar prevents the pole from falling sideways when raising the tent over the tree. A three-quarter-inch guy rope, 33 feet long, is fastened at the end of each pole in front. A four-inch block is fastened in the rear at the end of the top, and another block where the braces join the upright ; through...
