PYRAMID HILL AGRICULTURAL SHOW. [Newspaper Article] — The Kerang Times — 10 September 1889

PYRAMID HILL AGRICULTURAL SHOW. '   (BY OUR OWN REPORTER.) The second annual spring show of the Pyramid Hill District Agricultural Society was held at- the picturesquely situated show grounds, near the foot of the Mount, on Friday last and proved highly surcessful. The arrangements in the able hands of the secretary, Mr. D McItntyre, assisted by an energetic com- mittee, left nothing to be desired. The exhibits, taken all round, were more numerous and of a better description than last year, and altogether the members of the society have every reason to be satis- tied with the result of their second show. The attendance was very numerous,   particularly from Sandhurst and Kerang. Amongst the visitors on the ground were Messrs. J. H. McColl and J. M. Higthett, M's.L.A., the latter being president of the Society. The forthcoming election for the North Western Province was very freely discussed; and the supporters of the dif- ferent candidates lost no opportuni...

CAKE AND APRON FAIR. [Newspaper Article] — The Kerang Times — 13 September 1889

CAKE AND ARnoN FAIR.-On Tuesday night a cake and apron fair, in aid of the building fund of the Presbyterian Church, was opened in the Mechanics' Institute. Although the roads and footpaths, owing to the recent rains, were in a very muddy state, the atten dance was very good indeed, and the ladies in charge of the stalls, and their assistants, who were helping them to dispose of the articles by means of rallies, appeared to be doing a thriving trade. D)nring the evening a new version of "Fairy Voices," given by children who have been rehearsing for some time under the ahlo tuition of Mrs. Gregory, was well received by the audience. The fair was again open on Wednesday afternoon, and in the evening, and was well attended on both occasions, the crowd at night being very great. As there were many articles left over, it was decided to keep the fair open again last night. The ladies are to Ie congratu lated on the snccess attending their effoits. The following ladies had charge of the va...
