"Deloraine & Westbury Advertiser," SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH. [Newspaper Article] — Deloraine and Westbury Advertiser — 4 February 1911

"Deloraine & Westbury Advertiser," ?:c: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH. The action of the Deloraine Muni- cipality in posting their Public ten- ders in front of the Post Office instead of advertising them in a newspaper eil dilating throughout the district is a matter which is to- tally against the principles of Local Government. A Public tender should be given the widest publicity possible, and to this end the col- umns of the newspaper, circulating widely through the district shouh be sought after. The present prin- ciple of posting public lenders on a notice board in fi ont of the post, iffice is not likely lo brinn forth the greatest number of tenders neither is it likely to hiing forward, the cheapest tender. Under the pre- vailing conditons the Local Coun- cil have not got a sufficiently efficient scheme for reaching con- tractors, and of bunging before their notice the fact that tenders are to be called for any specific work; the prêtent metl.od of advertising 'tendéis is »ho...
