A crowd almost equal to a state Democratic convention gathered at Fort Worth last Monday to meet the board which had the locating of the new nor mal college in West Texas which w&s provided in the last session of the legislature. It was a large, good natured crowd of West Texas and Panhandle busi ness men that greeted Lieuten ant Governor Davidson, Super intendent of Public Instruction R. B. Cousins and Speaker John Marshall of the house of repre sentatives when they met those who had come to boost for their particular town. Believes the State Wide Prohibition Question Should Have Been Settled This Year. Hon. Cone Johnson of Tyler was the principal speaker on the first day of the celebration which was being held in this city this week and an immense audience from this and surrounding coun ties greeted him when he took his place upon the stand. From the first he held his audience, an audience which evidently came to listen and to learn. He spoke fervently about various matters during the nearly two hours that he spoke and paid a glowing trib ute to the Panhandle and west Texas. The Senator stated that per sonally he was not in favor of the United States Government own ing and maintaining public parks but promised that if the Appal lachian park bill passed the sen ate the Palo Duro park measure should be incorporated in it. The Palo Duro lies in Randall county He closed his address with a plowing tribute to this country and stated that when he came again he expected to find one of the best developed sections of the Republic. After he closed amid shouts and applause, a reception for an hour was tendered him during which time he shook hands with practically every person present. Senator Bailey went to Here ford last night by auto and will go to Plainview today where he speaks in the afternoon.
