THE JOURIAL BXTHA. ' FREMONT, 0., THURSDAY MARCH 4, 1869. "LET US HAVE PEACE!" Grant's Inaugural Address! As might hare been expected from the reports sent from Washington for days, the city this morning, at an early hour, was literally alive with people; and every prominent point near the cap ital was soon occupied, so that not even a foot of standing room remained. The preparations for the outside ceremonies of the inauguration, embraced a large platform built about half-way down the center flight of steps of the mai 1 east ern porch. It was about ten feet high, fifty wide and eighty long, with a rail around it some three feet high. This, and the place was covered with flags to the floor, and on the outside to the ground below. On the flags were hung massive wreathsf evergreen. The col umns of the porch were also draped with garrison flags. This platform, the steps back of it, and the porch still further in the rear of it, were occupied by Con gressmen and those having entrance to...
