THE flOTHBR'S SPIRIT. When the mother's spirit is im patient, pctulcnt, und fircy, can she expect her children to be gentle? When she governs by shouting, scolding', and threaten ing, can she expect them to speak gently to one another, or even to herself? Will she not sec in the carriage and demeanor of her children a reflection of hcrovrn spirit and life? If a mother is worldly-minded and fond of ornamental dress and show, can she expect her family to grow up in humility? If the mother is in the habit, in her common conver sation, of coloring facts, of exag gerating what she hears and relates can she expect her children to grow up with a love and rever ence for the truth? The tempers and dispositions of parents, whether good or bad, whether lovely or hateful, make such im pressions on the souls of their children they are like seeds im planted within them, which shall take root, and grow, and form of them future character.
