Z. W. PAT5E, Proprietor. MEDICINE LODGE. BARBOUR CO.. KANa CURRENT COMMENT. Justice Bradley, of the United States Supreme Court says, bo far as he is concerned there is no truth in the re port that he intends to retire from the bench to make room for Secretory Folger. It is estimated that the cotton crop this year will amount to 7,000,000 bales, the largest ever raised. This so enraged Kuhn that he furiously attacked the youth that prevented his attempted osculations, and in the struggle Kuhn was thrown, struck his head upon the curbstone and was instantly killed. It ia stated that Postmaster General Howe has "boen debating the propriety of recommending, in his annual report, the establishment of a Fostoflice Savings Bank in...

TI-IE INDEX. Z. W. PATKZ, Proprietor. MEDICINE LODGE. BAR DOUR CO.. KANS current co hue nt. Acconmxo to Gen. Sherman' army report, there were 3,721 desertions of en listed men in the past year, and 1,799 trials by court martial. SnrnnTARY Folger most emphatic! Ijr denies the report that he has tendered hi.i resignation, and says that the matter has never been referred to either by the President or himself. The Irish enlistments in the English nrmy have fallen from seventy to twenty er cent, and the Freeman's Journal says that, while tho present feeling between the two countries lasU, Irishmen will not erve in the army. Tun bill for restoring Fitz John Fortcr to the nrmy will come up early in the next session of Congress, and according to n Washington correspondent the con test over the case is expected to be warm.
