WANsunCTON, lDec. 1a.-The senate was in session about two hours today, half of the time being given to Stewart of Nevada, who made a vigorous assault on the gold combination. The echo of Comptroller Bowlers sus pension of the sugar bounty payments was heard in a resolution of Caffery of Louisiana calling on the treasury de partument for reasons for the suspension. Postmaster General Wilson's recent or der forbidding the postal employee from urging postal legislation also came up for attention, Peffer offering a comprehen sive resolution of inquiry as to the order.
