LOST THE HOSE RACE Hallock Wins a Scratch Vic tory Over the Bemidji Running Team. DENNIS TRIED TWICE TO MAKE THE COUPLING. Home Team Takes First Money In Coupling Contest and Second In Foot Race. The Bemidji running team lost the banner hose race of the Northern Minnesota Firemen's Association to the Hallock run ning team yesterday afternoon by one and one fifth seconds after a hard run for victory over a slow track attended by unusual misfortune. The home team would have won handily but for the failure of-Dennis to make the coupling until the second attempt. The time of local team was twenty eight seconds and the Hallock team went to victory in twenty six and four-fifths. The failure of the team to win the banner raoe was a simple matter of hard luck and it is undoubtedly the fastest all around team in at tendance at the tournament. Dennis won second money in the firemen's foot race in eleven seconds and Geil won first money in the coupling contest of four and four-fifths. Hallock ...

"COLLIN S^ The Republican primaries in the city of Bemidji today re sulted in a complete victory for the Collins forces. Collins dele gations were elected from both wards in the city. The defeat of the Dunn forces in the Second ward was decisive and-in the First ward it was closer but is nevertheless con sidered a big Collins victory for the reason that the local Collins men have never made any claims of great strength in that section of the city. The primaries were without question the most interesterins ever held in the city. Interest at polls was intense and the re sult was quite as much a surprise to the Collins men as it was to the Dunn men.
