THE SPIDER AND THEFLY. [Newspaper Article] — Kyabram Union — 28 January 1887

THE SPIDER AND THEFLY. Another case of the spider and the fly is reported. 'A young.man, who has been for severnl years at sea, was strol ling about Collins-street on Saturday last, when he was accosted by a person who said he wasi asquatter. The two got into conversation, and the squatter offered the young man a situation as driver of a mail cart at Dimb,,ola, if he cared to go. They got as far as North Melbourne, where they visited an hotel. Here they were joined by another indi vidual, who entered' in a .game of pitch and-toss with the iquatter ' The latter was lucky, andl in a moment of genero sity gave the young man £3 of his win nings, saying at the same time that he appeared to be an intelligent' young fellow, and one who would make his way in the world. ;He then asked him if he had any money, and the young man replied be had. The squatter there upon said that if lie could show him £10 lie (the squatter) would.add another £10 to it, so as to give him a " bit of a start." This...
