MAN KILLED AT WINDANG [Newspaper Article] — Kiama Independent — 24 May 1947

MAN KILLED AT WINDANG A man was killed on the Port Kembla Road at _Windang at about :6 p.mn onl Thursday, night last. He was Herald George Stanley, of Windang Road, Windang. He was walking along, his left hand side of the road when he was struck from behind by a car travel ling in the same direction. The driver of the car stated that he was dazzled by the headlights of a bus which was stationery on the cpposite side of the' road and also by the lights of an ambulance tray elling towards Windahg Bridge. The ambulance stopped, but Stan ley had been killed instantly. SDeceased, who was 51 years of age, leaves a widow (Mrs. Dulcie May Stanley), two daughters, Pat ricia (Mrs. McKensey) and Thais and an 11-year. old son Tony. The funeral took place yesterday (Friday), moving 'to the Woronora Crematorium from a Wollongong Funeral Parlour. '

BUTTER COSTS INQUIRY During question time in the House of Representatives recently; Mr. Fraser asked the following: "Can the Minister for Commerce and Agriculture say when the re port of the committee now examining the cost of butter production will be completed? After the report has been received, how long will be re quired for consideration of recom mendations contained therein, and to what date will the expected price increase be retrospective." Mr. Pollard said in reply: "I cannot state a specific date on which the inquiry will be concluded, but I am hopeful .that it will' not be more than about' three months from now, and it may be even less. When the Committee's report is received, it will be dealt with in the exped itious manner in which the Govern ment deals with all reports received by it. OBITUARY Sincere -sympathy is extended to Mrs. F. E. Reid, of Terralong Street, Kiama, in her bereavement through the death of her brother, Mr. H. King in Randwick Hospital. The late Mr. King served in the 1914-18 war and his death was due to war injuries. The death. occurred at his son's residence Agincourt Road, East Wood, on Wednesday' last of 'Mr. Amos 'Hambly, who some years ago was a respected resident of the Ger ringong district where he conducted a butchering business. He later resided at Woy Woy for some years and. has since been residing in Sydney. He is survived by his wife and two sons and two daughters The funeral, took place at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium on Thursday afternoon.. The 'death occurred at a private hospital at Nowra on Friday. of Mrs. Florence Mary Condon at -the age of 74 yearsi She was a resi dent of Kangaroo -.Valley and, was the mother of Mr. Thomas Condon of.
