G. a"Beckett, city health ofli;er, forwarded his annual report for the year ending December, 19 Î6. During that period there bad been 17 cases of typhoid, with one eise fa*, al. Diphtheria, 25 cas:s, with 2 fatal. There had been a remarkable falling off in the number of cases of scarla tina. In 1905 there Were zg, and in 1906'only 7. Pant Road Sunday School. PRESENTATION TO Mtt J. SHINKFIELD. A pleasant social evening wis given by the members of Mr Sbinkiield's young men's class, in the Pant Road Methodist School room last week. There were about roo of the senior scholars and friends present, and a programme of parlor games was gone through, with very evident enjoyment, judging by the enthusiasm displayed. The principal reason of the social, however, was to provide an oppor tunity for the young men to make a presentation to their teacher, and after refreshments had bien partaken of, Mr E. Hamley, accompanied by the other members of the class, ascended the platform, and in a brief speech presented Mr Shinkfield with a framed enlarged photographic group of the class. Mr Shinkfield expressed bb pleasure at receiving such a gift, and mentioned that a more suitable one could not have been chosen than tlv:s " group of bis boys." The monthly meeting of the Prahran School Board o£ Advice No. io was held in the,Town Hall building on Tuesday evening last, when the following members of the board were present :-Mr D. 8. Oakley (chairman), ami Messrs Bangs, Griffin and Fraser. A let: er was received from Mr W. Ryan, bead teacher of the Armadale State school, notifying that be had purchased for the school (out of the proceeds of concerts which had been given by the pupils), an Australian upright grand piano. Mr Ryan expressed the hope that the members of the Board wcu'.d favor the S:1IOD1 with an early visit, and inspect the piano.
