Uony yorricK on * RaxorbacKs . [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Livestock World — 11 January 1902

Uony yorricK on * RaxorbacKs . Wf * most things earthly , and probably in U some things belonging to the twinkling stars , history may repeat itself , but there is one rooting , snorting , grunter , indigenous to this terrestrial ball that dont repeat itself in history and is not keeping up a very good record in propagation . Historians generally agree that the razorback hog was not a thing of beauty and that as a loop-the looper he might make a sure-thin v , odds-on-favorite in a loop with some thing modern . But as to his natural habitat , the place where he could root and snort and crunch and grunt and feel at home , the wise old owls who write the history of hogology fail to get him located . As to conformation the biographers of the razorback generally cut pretty close to the same lines and this particular porcine species wouldnt be deuce high in a beauty show . ^ filcLge and the Steer . [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Livestock World — 11 January 1902

^ filcLge and the Steer . CTRjHILE silage has been the salvation of lAIJ the Wisconsin dairyman not until recently has the corn belt cattle feeder regarded it as a useful article of feed . Skepticism is yet prevalent and another decade will probably elapse before the use of succulent feed becomes general . Canadian feeders achieve their success by the liberal use of roots , yet such recognized authorities as Henry , Jordan , Woll , Armsby , King and others unite in the assertion that corn ensilage is superior to roots and much less costly to put up . Can adian feeders have of recent years largely abandoned tho expensive root crop for silage . The subject is one deserving investigation at the hands of every progressive feeder . That cattle relish succulent food is not open to dispute and during the long feeding period its palatability is an item worth consideration . Silage is declared to bo more acceptable to stock than dry fodder , enabling them to consume a larger quan * tity of d...
