Life Is an Endless Chain of Missing Links EVERY true soul that has faced the furnace of life from the dawn of Time has tried to forge and fashion a complete and perfect chain . Try as we will , labor as we may , fight as best we can , there always has been , always is , and always will be , missing links—the work is never done . Managers , actors , and actresses each have their struggles . We all know that . Every hour of every day has its missing links—but the spirit of the times demands MUTUAL HELPFULNESS , MUTUAL ASSISTANCE , MUTUAL FORBEARANCE . The axis of existence complements and co-ordinates with the wheel of time and the conditions under which we live . Mutuality of obligation runs all through life and every phase of life . All that the White Rats are praying for , pleading for , fighting for , is MUTUALITY OF OBLIGATION all down the line , a lessening of missing links in the spirit of LIVE AND LET LIVE , BEAR AND FORBEAR . The Test of a Man [Newspaper Article] — Player — 15 December 1911

The Test of a Man AFTER all is said and done , the true test of a real man is : IS HE BIG ENOUGH , BROAD ENOUGH , BRAVE ENOUGH AND STRONG ENOUGH TO STAND LIKE A MAN AND SAY : I HAVE DONE WRONG , I HAVE MADE A MISTAKE , I AM IN THE WRONG , I WANT TO DO RIGHT , I AM GOING TO DO RIGHT . Every man , organization , institution , or even government , sooner or later comes to the parting of the ways . There comes a time when one must either do right or wrong . This proposition is equally applicable to manager and artist . Each in turn must meet the test of a man . Things cannot go on as they are . It will not do for the manager to sit supinely by and say : There is nothing to be remedied . Nothing to be adjusted . We are content ; what IS is right and must remain as it is . This will not do The issue is here , and it will not be downed . It cannot be permitted to rest . THE OUESTION IS , WILL THE MANAGER MEET THE ARTIST LIKE A MAN UPON A COMMON BASIS , AND ADJUST THE DIFFERENCES THAT EXIST...

Women Aggressively at the Helm for Big Bazaar [Newspaper Article] — Player — 15 December 1911

Women Aggressively at the Helm for Big Bazaar To find just how the arrangements were progressing for the Professional Woman s League Bazaar I drifted into the League Club House at 1999 Broadway , where I found a business meeting in session and everything humming . Mrs . S . Ludlow Neidlinger , the director of the entire affair , kindly chatted with me a few moments and said while she was frightfully busy , she enjoyed it all extremely . Mrs . Neidlinger recently had charge of the theater booth for the Little Mothers , which took in more money than any other booth on that occasion . Why do women make greater successes of big affairs of this nature than the men ? For I well remembered when a mere man , though a big manager , managed or undertook the management one season with disastrous results financially , morally and in every other way . Mrs . Neidlinger s answer was : We put our whole souls into it and every one helps me beautifully . I wake up in the night and thinking of somethi...

Feminine Fancies and Foibles [Newspaper Article] — Player — 15 December 1911

Feminine Fancies and Foibles By Cady Whaley Continued from page 7 44 TT * HEN , you can be happily married in this business if i your interests are together ; in fact , that seems to me the solution of the divorce question . If the man and the woman share their interests , of -whatever nature ; if they are good chums in every way , they ought to get along amicably . The idea of so much domestic trouble , both on and off the stage , has always seemed useless to me to a great extent , aside from being very distasteful . She continued as follows : If a woman has real stage ambitions and is born into the profession , she will always have . longing for the stage . You see even Mary Anderson has come back and is geting as close to the stage as possible ; the old feeling seems to be knocking at the door . It s the best advertising Mr . Tyler can have . She could always get a job with the publishers . U A NOTHER thing that interests me is the fact that x \_ women teachers are to receive equ...
