Editor Oat: Not having the pleasure of reading any news in your valuable paper from western Thomas county, and seeing you have adver tised for items, we will send in a few. This portion of the beautiful coun ty of Thomas we will name Eden, for it has been discovered by the early settlers that this is undoubtedly tne harden of Eden, as the soil furnishes Qnfllmnnt evidence, which the oldest inhabitants dare not dispute. Wheat and rye harvest is over, Oats will soon be ready to cut?. Small grain of all kinds is a splendid crop. Corn and potatoes look well and promise an abundant yield. It is getting very dry again and some of our croakers are beginning to prophesy continued diouth and a-shoit corn crop; but we hope they will miss it as bad as they did during the -May drouth.
