-. - , ,-j y a THE GARDEN ISLAND. SPORTS! SUNDAY'S GAMES Next Sunday's Games MAKAWELI The Lihues went out of it for the present ball season last Sunday, when they were defeated by the Makaweli team on the latter's grounds. The game was considered a close one and proved interesting until the 9th inning when a dis pute arose after which the least i said the better. Suffice t o say that the wind-up was anything else but baseball. The score stood 8-7 in favor of Makaweli, at the close. WAIMEA The McBrydes defeated the Wai meas Sunday with 'a score of 10-7 in as fine an exhibition of ball as has been seen on the field. Up to the 8th. inning, the game was neck and neck, but the big McBryde's proved just a bit too classy for" the home sports. The game was called in the forenoon in order to enable the teams to pull off the game and get back to Makaweli to see the game there. 6 THE GARDEN ISLAND. PORTS! UNDAYS GAME KOLOA It remained for Koloa, a team which has met defeat at the hands j of every other team in the series, to administer the greatest defeat the Makaweli's have received dur ing the second series. The doing up of three Makaweli pitchers and bringing in ten home runs were among the spectacular events of the game. The overwhelming de feat of this big team by the Ko loas, partly consoles them for be ing at the lower wring of the ladder for, even if they are at the bottom, they have the satisfaction of administering a knock-out to a team where other supposedly much stronger teams had tried and fail ed. Aka occupied the box for the home team and did heady work, while every other member of the team, filled his post with equal ability. In the 8th., two straight home runs were made in scccession off Akina's balls. There were none on bases, and the home runs were entirely dependent on the batting which was professional if nothing ; else. The game was w...
