The Recent Bush Fires. [Newspaper Article] — Tocumwal Guardian and Riverina Stock Journal — 10 January 1919

The Recent Bush Fires. Writing ou this subject thu Doui i quiu " Pastpial Times" says the great damage caused by the recent grass fires has drawn attention la the fact that little or tib provision is made by many landowners to fight outbreaks of fire. Jt is stated that many of those who suffered lately do not possess water carts, and others hadn't n single beater on their pro perties. The value of water carts for checking fires has be0ii demon strated over and over ngain, and' jt; is somewhat surprising to hear that so many men on the land neglect, to take precautions for the protection of their property by obtaining one or more of them. The cost of such carts is but a modest premium on n fire insurance polioy, and when thou sands of pounds worth of property and stock aro involved, Iho outlay must bo regarded fully justified. The same remai ks apply in regard to the purchase of other very ncces sary tiro' fighting tqnipmont in the form of serviceable boaters. These we were told wore...
