BASKET BALL. [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton, Taggerty and Acheron Express — 15 July 1949

BASKET BALL. About sixty people attended the match between Foy's and the P.G.F. on Saturday afternoon last, at the Alexandra Park. Play was keen right throughout, but systematic work on the part of Foy's was the factor that help them to gain victory. P.G.F. had many shots for goal, but lack of accuracy caused them to re cord many failures. Foy's scored 26 goals, P.G.F. 18. Miss Jean Reid gave every satisfac tion as umpire. 'The other match, between G.F.S. and the Methodists, resulted in a win for G.F.S., who tallied 14 goals to 12 recorded by the Methodists. Tc-morrow's Matches-Method ists v. Foy's, at School. Presbyterians v. St. Mary's, at Park. The Premiership team will re ceive a handsome cup (donated by P. and G. Stores).
