GLADSTONE FIRE. Early on tho morning, of Christmas Eve a fire in Goondoon-strcct, Gladstone, destroyed two shops and. did consider able other damage, says our Cil-vlstoir; correspondent. Constable Hiivnvi... -?.!:?! assisted in extinguishing the lire, \\a-~ slightly injured, sustaining burns to the hand. The premises, which were owned by Mr. K. P. Colyer, were occupied by Mr. William Thomson, who conducted a mixed jewellery ;-nd stationary busi ness, aud Mr. W. Byrne, dentist. Some ?damage was done to the building occu pied by Gladstone Motors, Ltd.. airi owned by Mr. Coyler, also slight damage to the stock. Greater damage was done to the building owned by Mr. V. W. Clarke and occupied- by Mr. 11. O'Sing, who stocks hardware and fancy goods and Mr. F. W. Clarke, chemist. One regrettable feature of the lire to far as Mr. O'Sing is concerned was the fact that his stock, a good deal of which was damaged, was entirely new, as he. had only opened up business a few weeks ago.
