The Barraba Murder. The man Johu Cummings, who is now confined in the Barraba Gaol ou suspicion of the murder of Mr. W. C, M'Kay, is a man who was sentenced to five years for horse stealing, and wa r discharged' from ! Berrima Gaol in 1888 A letter has been received by Mr. B. Finkernagel from Mr. T. A. Dibbs, the general manager of the j Commercial Banking Company of Sydftey, AYTtrpssinff in or^lonf fopme flio hdtilr's i appreciation of the praiseworthy action of Mr. Finkernagel in protecting its property at the recent attempt to rob the bank ,- also sympathising in the loss sustained by the town folks by the death of Mr. M-'Kay, and commending his successor, Mr. W. II. Dawson, to their good offices. It hds just been found that John Cum mings has a mate who answers exactly the description of the second outlaw. This iuaji also owns a black horse which answers to the one ridden on the day ot the murder. Three parties of troopers are searching the mountains. They will be joined shortly...

POLICE COURT ACCOMMO   DATION. When attending the Police Court on Wednesday we were forcibly im-   pressed with the necessity for an improvement in the accommodation provided for the Bench and those having business before them. In a building about 16 feet by 12 feet there would not be much surplus room for the magistrates, officials, and parties to a suit, but when we consider that more than half of that space is required for the Mining Registrar and his constituents, it will be admitted that the erection of this building does not furnish one of   the cases in which the Government can be accused of wanton extrava-   gance.
