Answers To Correspondents [Newspaper Article] — Country Life Stock and Station Journal — 4 March 1924

Answers To Correspondents j (By 'Gossip.') ELECTRICAL. — I wonder if you got the Journal containing the gossip on electricity? You see, you are so far away, and your movements are so very uncertain that I never think of send ing you a paper, but I did send you the one containing your sketch, so that Is something to my credit. It was strange that it should be the same paper as contained the article on electricity as life, and that article contained a deal of truth. I would like to have your opinion on the subject, but I suppose tho world and the flesii and the devil come pretty near to choking you? How ever, I hope you'll keep the paper till you return, and we can discuss it then, for the subject Js interminable and will never be exhausted while the human .race endures. I wonder when you are coming back? OLD MAID. — What a doleful letter, and how pessimistic you sound. It makes me laugh. I am a born optimist, and always look on the bright side of things by temperament, but I'm grow i...

THE USES OF A HAIRPIN [Newspaper Article] — Country Life Stock and Station Journal — 4 March 1924

THE USES OF A HAIRPIN Have you ever thought to what a number of uses a hairpin can be put. These are few of the many ways a hair pin can help during a brief holiday, when the luggage conveniences are small : When you start your * journey it can do diuty as a paper-knife, to cut the pages of a new magazine in the train. On arrival at the country rooms it may be found useful as a window wedge, to stop the inevitable rattling which so often results from an illfit ting window. At the toilet it may serve as a bodkin, threading ribbons through camisoles, etc. We have heard of,a keyhole in which the key wouldn't turn because it was filled wiflr dust being soon cleared with the helpful hairpin. It was equally successful in trimming the wick of a smoking lamp. A]so, at the end of a certain holiday, it was heated in the candle and used to pierce another hole in the luggage etpap. And always— it is still service able for its old use. Mrs, A. J. Studdy, of Boggabrl, a vice-president of the asso...

Sydney Wool Sales Super Wools Slightly Easier [Newspaper Article] — Country Life Stock and Station Journal — 4 March 1924

[?] Super Wools Slightly Easier The thirteenth series of Sydney wool Bales were commenced yesterday, when catalogues were submitted by. the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Co., Ltd., and the Co-operative Wool and Produce Co., Ltd. The selection was a good average one, drawn from the later shearing districts, and embraced some choice lines of merinos and comebacks. The Sydney Wool Selling Brokers report: — Good general competition prevailed for all descriptions. Super wools did not meet quite the extreme demand ruling lately, and were slightly in buyers' favor. Good wools were also inclined to ease. All other descriptions were in keen request at full late rates. Greasy merino sold to 37Jd. N.Z.L. and M.A. Co., Ltd, GREASY.
