KARRAMOMUS. [Newspaper Article] — Euroa Advertiser and Violet Town, Longwood, Avenel, Strathbogie, Balmattam and Miepoll Gazette — 12 April 1884

l JALRRA1YOIYUSb A magic lantern was shown in our local state school on Saturday evening last, and was largely attended by both young and old. Some very fair views were __hown and the you gsters seemed to highly enjoy the affair. The weather still continues very dry, and the general cry is " more rain," Ploughing operations are now in full swing, but the ground is still fearfully dry. The "jays"--better kLown as the " black magpies "-are making their appearance already. These pests, I am afraid will be very abundant here this season, and wil pove very destrus tine to.the young crops.

LONGWOOD. [Newspaper Article] — Euroa Advertiser and Violet Town, Longwood, Avenel, Strathbogie, Balmattam and Miepoll Gazette — 12 April 1884

?Ao?GWOOD.. The meeting to decide on the re moval or otherwise of our State school proved afterall a bloodless affair, and conseqpently devoid of interestto mere, spectators. Contrary to my expecta tions, the new townsbipites gained the "' prayer of their petition,' and we are likely to-lose onenof our public • build ings. The inspector strongly recom, mends its -removal to, a point equally distant from. either township, and 'selected a site near the north-east corner of M1r Tubb's selection,, which, in, his opinion,.will be far more central than tile position. the school occupies at' present.. . The Rev,.?': t Williams paeached his farewell sermon in Longwood last Sunday afternoon (30th ultt) toa.large congregation.. and on Tuesday even ing a number of thereeidenta.assambled to take-leave.of him, and, present him with an address;. accompanied, by a purse of sovereigns..
