Police Court. [Newspaper Article] — Queenscliff Sentinel, Drysdale, Portarlington & Sorrento Advertiser — 20 June 1885

Police Court. (Before Mr Heron. P.M., and Mr Simpson. J.P:) Charles Morris was sued by John Burn. livery stablekeeper, for hire of a buggy and damage of same, all extending to £3 15s. Defendant denied owing the amount, and Mr Burn, with his manager of the stables (Keem) proved the letting and pay- ment for the first day of the vehicle employed, and added that the identity of the accused was unques- tionable Morris pleaded his own case anxiously well, leaving no point unturned. The Broken Heart or Woman's Love. [Newspaper Article] — Queenscliff Sentinel, Drysdale, Portarlington & Sorrento Advertiser — 27 June 1885

The Broken Heart or Woman's Love, BYIt.LJ. # .i It is a common practice Witlh those Who have untliveu'l the sise'ptiiilitj jl;I early feeling to laugh atnill"lov?,'stoiihis; and to treat the tales of romantic pission as more fictions oflrovelistsanil+ poets. iiMy observations on. :liuman, nature h|ave induced me to thinik otherwise;.. they have told me that. however, :the. surface of the character, may be clhillel1 a nd frozen by the cares: of the world, still there are dormant fires lurking in the breasts of the coldest bosom, whi ,h when once enkindled, become impe t`uous and are sometime &,idesolatmgn itn tleir effects. Shall I cohfess'it? I firmly believe in broken lhaei s nda' th possibility of dying of disappointed hive. I do not imagine that- it- is a malady often fatal to my own sex, but I' firmly believe that it withers down many a lovely woman into an early grave. Ma*w is a creature of interest and ambition; his nature leads him fofth into the struggle anti bustle o...
