Saturday, July 2. WATCH STEALING Chci'lea Scliott, watchmaker, was charged with having' fraudulently appropriated a lever watch, tho property of Mr.- Connolly, Berrima. ConcHble Russell, stationed at Moos Vale, arrested the .accused at Yass, where ho had gone, having taken his ticket at MoS3 Vale. The watches he afterwards received from the Yass police. John Wellsley Connolly, postmaster at Berrima, stated that the accused called upon him on June 17 last and represented that he was a watchmaker, and asked witness if' lie had any work he could give him. Wit ness gave him a ciock and a watch which required repairing. As accused said lie had a shop at Mittagong and the necessary tools to do the work wero there, witness allowed him to take them away. He promised fo return them the following day but did not do so: Witness also handed accused a wacch belonging to Mr Galbraith that required repairing, which he promised to return at the same time but had not done so.
