A CLIP OF WOOL. FROM SHEARING SHED TO SHIP. [Newspaper Article] — The Sydney Wool and Stock Journal — 6 January 1899

A GUP OF WOOL . - FROM SHEARING SHED TO SHIP. V. We shall suppose that (he selling broker, having received, weighed, and stacked the wool, sent oft" a valuation, and got the owner's reply, is now in a position lo offer the clip at auction. We mentioned in a previous articlo that when weighing the wool four copies of the weights are taken, one being sent up to the oflico to he entered in the wool hooks. For the keeping of theso wool hooks its many clerks must be employed as will keep the work close up, for the accumulation of any arrears in this, or, indeed, any department during the season only means trouble all round. Where the owner has sent down particulars of each consignment, either in the form of way hills, or specification, these particu lars have to be entered up in other books, generally called advice or instruction books, which contain the owner's name, postal and telegraphic address, all details regarding the wool, if a valuation is wanted, or a reserve is imposed, where;...

When the linger is then dinped ' into it, threads as much as a yard in length can sometimes be drawn out. A great variety of theories, moro or Iras plausible, have been put forward to account. < for the fault, chief amongst thes« being : -1. The presence of certain herbs in the COW'B pasture. 2. Local or constitutional . disease of one or more of the animals produc ing the milk. 3. Neglect of proper precaution ,v to ensure the cleanliness of the milk. 4. Pec...
