ATHUETIC NEWS . lhe candidates for the base-ball team have been piacticing daily on the prep , giounds , as the Nixon Field has not yet been put in shape . Capt . Burns is working hard to develop a fine team , and his effoits are meeting with success . During his leisure hours he has been doing considciablc individual coaching , from which marked improvement is noticed . The players for the various positions are about decided upon with the exception of catcher , the applicants for which position are not up to the standard maintained by the rest of the team . APRIIi 7 , 1832 . The charter of Pennsylvania College of _Gettysburg having been enacted by the legislature was approved by Governor Geo . Wolf , April 7 th , 1832 . The organization of the College was celebrated by a demonstration on July 4 th of the same year and the first term of the school was opened Nov . 7 th , 1832 . The first sessions were held in the buildings now occupied as a residence , on the south-east corner of Washington and High stieets . On this sixty-fifth anniversary it is proper to consider the purpose of the founders of our College . This is set forth in the enacting clause of the charter . The institution promises to exert a salutary influence in advancing the cause of liberal education . Judge Dallas m the U . S . Circuit Court recently mnde an order which will have the effect of forcing a judicial sale of the Railway Co , within a month or two On the heels of this order Judge Swope in our County Courts on April 10 handed down an opinion refusing to stay tile executions issued against tile Electric Light Co which had been asked to he stayed by the Receiver of the Railway Co .
