The Winfiehl Courier seems appre hensive that the Kaglr's star-eyed goddess of reform is .it bcsl but a Mow-going jade. We admit she i no wild-eyed crank, all wings ami, no M coring apparatus. Thin country, friend Millington, U much more likely to be rent violently to piece y ex treme radicalism than it is to die of uicccace. Conservatism is a break that should be applied to American aflairs generally jn-t now, to her legislation, churches, school5, society and homes. The acquisition by the government of the telegraph lines of the country would be followed by the acquisition of a transcontinen tal railway line, and then by other lines, and where will you stop. f wyw A. i ; w tsrjy.f ss. M M MURDOCK & BROTHER, Proprietor. PERSONAL AND LOCAL ITEMS OF NEWS. DECORATION DAY IN WICHITA. Its Celebration Yesterday by the Grand Army, Notwithstanding it rained nearly all day yesterday and tlie day before, making mortar beds of the loadways and streets, crowds from tbe country came in, and the Holdier clement turned out in force. As this is mostly absorbed by the G. A. It., we observed none in the fine procession which paraded tbe sidewalks in the rain, except those who wore the badge of honor of this graud semi-military order. Until the organization of Garfield Post in this city, the 30th of May came and went, with as little regard being paid to its ob servance, as any ordinary day in the year. This was tho third celebration by this Post each one of which reflects credit upon tbe order and upon those exercising its man agement. The opera bouse was a perfect jam.
