' Lightning struck the Court House i of Orange county, Va., on the night of tha 2d inst, setting it on fire and destroy ing it and five other buildings. The silver chalice of fct. Michael Church, Charleston, S. C, has been res- cued from a pawnbroker's shop in New i York and restored to the church. Prentice says 'tis a pity that elections in the South cannot take place at this time, for although the negroes there are strong Bow they will be stronger in the dog days. Mrs. Hannah Armstrong, residing in the lower part of the city of Philadelphia, committed suicide by taking laudanum Friday night. She said her domestic troubles were more than she could bear.
