RONAN, MISSOULA COUNTY, MONTANA, JULY 14, 1911. $2 Per Year Senator Dixon Makes Plea for Local Settlers A special despatch from Wash ington, dated July 12, to the Missoulian, says; "Senator Dixon has had con ferences with both Commissioner Valentine of the Indian office and Secretary of the Interior Fisher, regarding the unfortunate situa tions that has arisen regarding the suspended entries on un appraised Flathead lands. He presented a petition signed by 200 settlers on the reservation, asking for equitable adjustment of diffuculties. The trouble seems to have arisen over the fact that the Indian office, at the time of the opening of the reser vation, issued an order reseving the right to re-allot any Indian on the unappraised lands-; where a mistake had been made in the ...

L. Knappen was interviewed by the Pioneer man and from him re ceived the following as his im pressions of the town and sur rounding country. C., says: Representative Pray has had further interview and correspon dence with officials of the interior department, the Indian bureau and the reclamation service in regard to the settlement of un classified and unappraised lands on the Flathead Indian reserva tion. These were taken up by Mr. Pray to secure an early and satisfactory settlement, and he says that the officials have assur him that the matter will be given a thorough investigation and he will be furnished with a full re port within a short time.
