TUB FOURTH AT CAKUIZOZO. Good A Interesting Program and Tlino In the drove. From an early hour Saturday morning people began moving towards the Bur W Grove, tltc place selected to celebrate the Fourth. By ten o'clock there were probably live hundred peo ple in the Grove. Automobiles, hacks, busies, wagons, etc., were kept running all day moving people to and from the grounds. The day was an ideal one, partly cloudy, with an absence of wind, and the Grove the coolest and shadiest retreat imaginable. A brass baud discoursed pleasing selections at intervals during the day. The grand feast commenced at 11:30 and lasted until one o?clock. Three fat beeves and seven muttons were barbecued to a turn, with au abundance of good coffee, bread, pickles and pics. IP CANDIDATE FOR SHERIFF. Last week P. W. Brockway an nounced, through the columns of the Nisws, his candidacy for the office of sheriff of Lincoln county, subject to the action of the dcm otratic party; but, as stated at that time, the announcement came too late to receive mention, and we promised to take the mat tcr up this week. Mr. Brockway is a native of Michigan, went to Colorado when a bov and came to Lincoln county in 1885, settling at Picncho. There he was mar ried and resided for the greater portion of the time he has been a citizen of this county, engaged in farming and the handling of mnchiucry. Two years ago he moved his family to Carrizozo, bought property, built a resi dence and has followed the pro fession of carpenter and builder. During all these years that Mr. Brockway has lived in this coun ty, he has been regarded as an honest, upright man and an ex cellent citizen. In politics he is a loyal democrat.
